Loading and unloading covers rental trucks, PODS containers and storage units for anyone in Chicago who needs trained hands but already has their own vehicle or container.

Careful loading and unloading is a critical stage of any move or delivery. It calls for solid knowledge of the cargo, skill with straps and rigging tools, and the ability to react quickly in tight situations. The service comes up during full-service relocations, warehouse rotations, and whenever a rental truck or container needs to be packed correctly.
A dispatcher confirms crew, time and price after a free 10-minute survey — by phone or video.
A loading crew disassembles furniture that will not fit through the door in one piece, wraps each item in blankets or stretch film, carries everything down to the truck and stacks it inside with straps holding each tier in place. On the other end the crew reverses the process — unloading, carrying items to the correct room, reassembling beds and tables, and removing leftover packing material.
The crew works with any vehicle you provide — U-Haul, Penske, Budget trucks, portable containers like PODS, and fixed storage units. Before loading starts the lead measures the available space and maps out which pieces go in first so the weight stays balanced and nothing shifts on the road.
Loading usually takes longer because every item needs wrapping and the load has to be built in the right order. Unloading goes quicker since the crew simply reverses the sequence, though placing furniture in specific spots adds time.
Heavy pieces — dressers, appliances, sofas turned on end — go against the walls first. Boxes fill the gaps in the middle, with fragile cartons on top. Each tier is held with ratchet straps so nothing slides when the truck brakes or turns. Items needed first at the destination are loaded last.
The crew arrives with moving blankets, stretch film, ratchet straps, floor runners and basic hand tools for disassembly. If the job involves a heavy safe or a piano, the lead adds a dolly and shoulder harnesses. You only need to have the truck or container ready at the curb.
Anything with glass — mirrors, display cabinets, framed art — gets corner guards and a layer of bubble wrap. Flat-screen TVs ride upright in a padded sleeve, and marble or stone tabletops are crated separately.
The crew lead walks through every room with you, counting heavy furniture, noting stairs, checking whether the truck can park close to the door. This takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes but shapes the entire loading plan — how many hands go where, which items come out first.

Beds, wardrobes and tables are taken apart, and every bolt goes into a labelled bag taped to its frame. Screens and glass shelves get a layer of bubble wrap and then a moving blanket. Smaller items go into boxes sealed and marked with the destination room.
Heavy dressers and appliances go against the walls first. Sofas stand on end to save floor space. Boxes fill the middle gaps, fragile cartons on top. Each tier is locked with ratchet straps so nothing shifts during the drive.
Boxes go to the room written on the label, not into a pile by the entrance. Beds and tables are reassembled, shelves rehung, and the crew checks that doors and drawers close properly. Packing material is flattened and removed so you are not left with a pile of cardboard.
Moon Movers sends trained loading and unloading crews anywhere in Chicago and the surrounding communities. Whether the job is a one-bedroom walk-up or a four-story house, the crew arrives with blankets, straps and the right number of hands for the volume.
Your rental truck, PODS container or storage unit — the crew loads it, straps it and hands you back a vehicle that is ready for the road. No truck yet? Truck rental is available too: a 16, 20 or 26 ft truck sized to the load, with the same crew doing the loading.
